You have all supported me through my journey to become your Delegate. I know it was not easy and, at times, it was even difficult. But together we won! Thank you.
With my being elected to the VA House of Delegates, the Fairfax County School Board will, of course, have a vacancy. I am supporting Sandy Evans to succeed me as Mason District School Board member. And I hope you will also.
Sandy has been grounded in her community for many years and has become a community leader. She has been a committed and outspoken public school advocate for as long as her daughter, who is now a freshman at UVA, has attended FCPS. I have appointed her to several standing School Board Advisory Committees: Physical Education Curriculum Advisory Committee; Student Health Advisory Committee and several temporary transportation advisory committees. She has served diligently on each committee and represented her community well. Sandy has worked with me on many issues over the past 6 years and proved to be a strong, practical voice for the parents and children of Mason District. She has also spoken on behalf of our education community at Board of Supervisors budget hearings for many years, advocating for our children.
I have urged Sandy to run for the Mason District School Board seat because I believe that in these very tough fiscal times, we need someone who is prepared to jump in quickly and readily apply her experience and knowledge of our community and our public school system to become the advocate we need.
I know many of you are tired, and many of you are campaigned-out. But, we have a special election coming up very soon to fill my position on the School Board. We can not let inexperienced or unqualified candidates win in Mason District. We must send the candidate most demonstrably qualified to speak for us and our children as our School Board Member. We must put Sandy Evans on the School Board. And, we need your help to do it.
Watch for an upcoming invitation to Sandy’s kickoff rally at Magill’s next Saturday, December 19, at 10:00 a.m.
Please give Sandy the same heartfelt and tireless support that you gave me. Thank you,
Delegate-elect, House of Delegates, 38th District
