Please volunteer to help elect Kamala Harris and the full slate of Democratic candidates! Michelle Obama emphatically said, “Do Something!” There are lots of things to do in Mason District – so sign up now!
Harris/Walz Combined Campaign
The campaign headquarters is right here in Mason District! The Combined Campaign is at 7535 Little River Turnpike, Suite 209. Email our contact Matthew Savage. There are many packet assembly, canvassing, and phone banking opportunities. Volunteer activities are available on the Mobilize app.
Back-to-School Nights
Spend two hours in the early evenings this September handing out Democratic flyers to parents as they enter the building for Back-to-School events. Minimal discussion, as folks are usually in a hurry. Email Nancy Hall for more information or sign up here.
Postcards to Voters
We meet every other week (September 15, 29 – more dates later) at Peggy Morrison’s house. If you can’t attend these events, we have Postcards to Go packs that can be picked up at Peggy’s house, or at the Mason District Farmers Market (Thursdays 8am-12pm at the Mason District Park). We will be mailing the first batch of postcards September 10 with more to come. Volunteers are asked to cover the cost of postcard stamps–56 cents each. The campaign we are supporting is Missy Cotter Smasal, who is running for Congress in CD 2 in the Hampton Roads area. This is a must-flip Red-to-Blue seat, so we are focusing all our efforts on her campaign. For more information, email Peggy Morrison.
College student Voter Registration and Education
We will start at NOVA Community College – Annandale Campus and George Mason University talking with commuter students beginning the week of September 9th and working until Election Day. Our goals are to make sure that students are properly registered, know when and where to vote, and vote Democratic! You will be paired with a more “seasoned” volunteer at first. Email Vicki Portney, who oversees our efforts at local colleges.
Summertime Spin for a November Win – Get jiggy with fellow Dems at our 90’s themed event on behalf of Mason District Democrats – September 10th. Bling out your outfits, have some great food, meet some new friends–all for a good cause. It’s gonna be da bomb. Sign up here to attend. Sign up here to help.
Assist Voters at the Polls this Election
Here are three opportunities to work at polling places to hand out Democratic sample ballots, answer voters’ questions, and recruit new volunteers (any questions? Please contact Bill Millhouser or Rachel Rifkind).
- On Election Day, November 5, either where you vote or at a nearby precinct
- Early voting at Fairfax County Government Center, starting September 20
- Early voting at the Thomas Jefferson Library and the Mason District Governmental Center sites, starting October 17. (The link has both sites — use the tabs at the top to toggle between them.)
